Diagnostic Services facilitates the provision of timely, cost-effective, and high quality diagnostic care in safe and secure environments. It includes the clinical services of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine . These services function in the settings of ambulatory care, acute care, mental health, geriatric and rehabilitative care. Facility based diagnostic service employees include physicians, nurses, technicians, technologists, administrators, as well as program assistants and analysts.

Anesthesiology Department

The department of Anesthesiology is deeply committed to helping the community, both locally and globally. Tangible, local outreach endeavors include transport programs (Neonatal Critical Care Transport, Adult Critical Care Transport) that were developed to permit transportation of critically ill patients from institutions with inadequate facilities to Stanford hospitals for state-of-the-art care. On a global level, many faculty have participated in medical volunteer efforts in disadvantaged countries of the world.

Gastroenterology Oncology Department

The knowledge and technology in Gastroenterology has grown massively in the last two decades and has branched into various subspecialties like hepatology, pancreatology, functional bowel disorders with motility studies, therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. Gastrointestinal services incorporate a joint medical and surgical approach for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic disorders including cancer.
